A New Simplified Forgiveness Application of $150,000 or Less
A new simplified forgiveness application for loans of $150,000 or less is the best news of the new information released by the SBA. These applications for forgiveness do not require the submission of supporting documentation to the bank or SBA (you must continue to maintain the information in case the SBA audits your loan).

Updates and Detailed Information on PPP Forgiveness
The House and Senate have passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act and the President is expected to sign it. I wanted to provide a brief update of some of the provisions contained in the Consolidated Appropriations Act as they relate to PPP loans, EIDL advance and SBA loans.

Paycheck Protection Program

The Small Business Administration‘s funding for the Paycheck Protection Program has been exhausted and the SBA’s PPP application portal stopped accepting applications on May 4th.

Ledyard remains focused on assisting you with forgiveness of your SBA PPP loan(s) and our online portal for accepting PPP loan forgiveness application’s remains open.

Loan applications that have not received an SBA loan number have not been approved. The SBA has reserved approximately $6 billion in funding for previously submitted loan applications subject to hold codes that have yet to be resolved. There is also approximately $8 billion remaining in congressionally mandated funding for PPP loans made by designated “community financial institutions,” defined as minority depository institutions and community development financial institutions.

Did you get your stimulus payment?

What are Economic Impact Payments?
Economic Impact Payments (EIPs)–commonly referred to as “stimulus checks” or “recovery rebates”– are a key provision of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) legislation that Congress passed to help reduce the financial burden of COVID-19 on individuals and their families. The payments are an advance of a temporary tax credit for tax year 2020.

Many people who should have received their payment and were automatically issued EIPs based on information from other federally administered payments (Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Veterans benefits) or their 2018 or 2019 tax return. If you are eligible and haven’t received your EIP, this means you should check the status of their EIP on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website.

For answers to questions about the second Economic Impact Payment, see Get My Payment, FAQs.

Read the IRS's recently updated statement regarding the second round of Economic Impact Payments, found here.

Based on information obtained from Get My Payment, you may need to do one of the following:

  • If you were not required to file a 2019 return, enter information into the IRS Non-Filers Tool
  • If you were required to file a 2019 return, file your 2019 return
  • Contact the IRS to obtain a lost, misdirected, or stolen EIP

You can find more information and help from the IRS here.
In many locations, 211 information centers offer help with EIP via text or phone.
